Brewery Spotlight: Mother’s Brewing Company

Great beer in the heart of the Ozarks.

When you think of the Ozarks, beer may not be the first thing you think of. Beautiful countryside, absolutely. Homespun quirkiness and folksy wisdom, sure. Moonshine, absolutely. But beer? That’s a new one.

One brewery is setting out to change that. Mother’s Brewing Company has been quietly and consistently churning out some of the region’s best beers for half a decade. Located right in the heart of Springfield, Missouri, the Queen City of the Ozarks, Mother’s is a homegrown brewery that produces big time beers.

Mother’s currently has five year-round brews, headed by an appropriately named American blonde, Towhead. Light-bodied with just a hint of fruit, it’s a perfect balance of sweet and hoppy. Perfect for hot summer nights or as an after work unwinder, it’s also a great pairing with just about any All-American meal from burgers to pizza.

Another year-rounder, Three Blind Mice, is a beautiful medium-bodied brown ale with a hint of caramel and a soft, hoppy, slightly chocolate finish. If you love the flavor, but want something a little stronger, Imperial Three Blind Mice is a more mature version of the same brew, clocking in at a hearty 9.60% ABV.

The permanent brews are rounded out with Loopty Loop, a new world lager, and Lil’ Helper, a Midwest coast ale. And like all great breweries, Mother’s tantalizes and teases its fans with a variety of seasonal brews, each available only for a limited time.

Blush! is a playful and unexpected pomegranate hibiscus wit that’s a treat during hot summer months. Autumn brings in a classic Oktoberfest lager, and cold weather brings with it Winter Grind, a hearty coffee stout. And when spring rolls around, it’s time for Uncanny, an American Pale Ale that will lead perfectly back into summer, when the cycle starts again.

In addition to these fantastic brews, Mother’s also has Mother’s Others, a wide selection of tasty beers that change on a regular basis. If you’re ever in Springfield, be sure to stop by their tasting room where you can sample a variety of brews available only onsite.

Whatever you choose, you won’t be disappointed with Mother’s. Why not head to the liquor store tonight and pick up a sixer of Mother’s? Crack it open with your favorite mutt, kick back and relax. You won’t regret it.
