A Dog’s Love Knows No Boundaries
Have you ever experienced the head-over-heels, magical feeling of falling in love? The butterflies fluttering in your stomach when you saw your crush on the other side of the room? The bond formed between you and a shelter animal is reported to be one of the best feelings in the world, closely compared to that of being smitten. Knowing you’re giving an animal a second chance at a better life resembles the fantastic feelings of falling in-love: magical, comforting, and life-changing. Giving a voice to those who can’t stand up for themselves is such a powerful experience and the Beatrice Humane Society strives to be an educational resource for those who want to save an animal’s life.
The Beatrice Humane Society is the only shelter in Nebraska and one of few in the entire mid-west that is an open admission / no kill facility. BHS cares for every single animal that crosses their path. They are proud to have a Neonatal kitten program where they train fosters and volunteers how to care for kittens that are less than eight weeks old. They make sure that 100% of every neonatal kitten has a chance to be loved. Euthanizing just isn’t an option for this gracious shelter in Nebraska. They even take feral and unsocialized cats to make sure they are fully vetted and realized into barns and vineyards to catch mice. It takes the help of the community and generous donations and volunteers, but the Beatrice Humane Society makes sure that every animal gets a chance to leave their facility alive, happy, and healthy. They make sure each one goes home with someone who will love and care for them.
With the help of BHS, Beatrice, Nebraska is becoming a city that protects the animals of its community and promotes responsible pet ownership. Thousands of animals have come into BHS over the years looking for help and a new home. There are currently 4 special dogs who have been there for over 6 months and would love nothing more than to give you a big, slobbery kiss for Valentine’s Day. Below are their pictures and you can contact the BHS for more information.
For the month of February, we are partnering with Beatrice Humane Society and will be donating 10% of our sales to this special shelter.
