Help kill anti-craft beer legislation.
These are trying times. Protests, demonstrations, heated political arguments. But even in this age of division, there’s one thing everyone, regardless of political affiliation can agree on - craft beer is awesome. But for Nebraskans, the right to fantastic microbrews is under attack in the form of Legislative Bill 632.
Introduced by Senator Tyson Larson, this bill would prevent craft brewers, including many close friends and partners of Beer Paws, from opening retail or taprooms offsite from where they brew.
This is bad for lots of reasons: First, it means eliminating or severely restricting Nebraskans’ easy access to their favorite in-state craft brewers. Secondly, it threatens to kill job growth. There are more than 40 craft breweries across the Cornhusker State. LB 632 would stop expansion plans dead in their tracks, impacting both employment in local communities and tax revenues. Finally, this law would take money out of the state, as locally brewed products would lose market exposure.
Overall, it’s going to hurt the great craft breweries we now have in Nebraska. And because so many of these companies have been instrumental in Beer Paws’ success, it’s something we take very seriously.
And that’s why we need your help. Get involved. Attend Blue Blood Brewing Company's Kill the Bill Party on February 9. Contact your state senator. Attend the hearing on February 13 in the Capital. Post on social media using #DontKIllOurCraft.
If you’re a beer lover, this is a fight worth fighting. We love Nebraska and we love our craft brewers. Stand up and make your voice heard!
To support our friends, Beer Paws is giving back to the Nebraska Craft Brewers' Guild. We will donate a portion of profits from all Beer Biscuits sold in February that we made in partnership with Nebraska breweries, including:
