Home is where the beer is.

Columbus House Brewery

There's something charming about college towns. Something about the energy, the vibe, the atmosphere that makes them so appealing. And in every college town, you’ll find a handful of people who showed up for school there 5 or 15 or 50 years ago and never left.

That’s what happened with the founders of Columbus House Brewery in Fayetteville - three University of Arkansas graduates loved the town so much they decided to stay and dedicate their lives to brewing beer. And Razorback nation is glad they did.

Right now they’re a three barrel brew house dedicated to making a small but growing selection of the best beers you’ll find anywhere in the Ozarks. And it starts with the Yellow Card Golden Ale. Light and refreshing, this golden ale feels like Northwest Arkansas in a glass. Balanced and smooth with just the right hint of bitterness, it’s the kind of beer that will quickly become your go-to.

Or if you want something a bit meatier, the Nutty Runner Nut Brown Ale is the beer for you. With a toasty nut aroma and chocolate malt, it has a smooth finish and nutty flavor you’ll go nuts for. (Okay that was a terrible pun, cut me some slack, it’s been a long week.)

Columbus House Brewery’s year-round brews are rounded out with the Weekend Warrior IP and the Spottie Ottie Oatmeal Stout. I don’t know if the last is a reference to Outkast or not, but if it is, it makes me love this beer that much more.

They also have a seasonal rotating tap that always has something great. So stop in for a tour the next time you’re in the area. Or if you don’t have time for that, at least a pint. Oh yeah, and they allow dogs too, so bring your four-legged companions.
