Ale works, lager works, stout works, it all works.
If you were to start your own craft brewery, the image of what you’d love is probably pretty close to the reality of COOP Ale Works in Oklahoma City. Experimental and exciting, while simultaneously detail-oriented and professional, they brew some of the finest brews you’ll find anywhere in the Great Plains.
It all starts with a proven brewing process executed by a team of beer mavericks. How else do you explain the success of innovative beers like the Very Cherry DNR? Dark and complex with just the right amount of cherry, this Belgian-style dark is unlike anything you’ve ever had before - in a very good way.
And then there’s the Alpha Hive IPA. This American Double IPA (also known as an imperial IPA) has a deep golden color with an aggressive hop profile balanced out by a touch of orange blossom honey.
If you’re in a less experimental mood, the Horny Toad Blonde Ale is amazing, and you can’t go wrong with a good hefeweizen like the Elevator Wheat. If you want something a bit darker, the Briefcase Brown Ale and Territorial Reserve Bourbon Imperial Stout are two fantastic options.
Can’t decide what to pick up? Don’t worry, their taproom is open Thursday through Saturday and offers 16 rotation selections on tap, including several brewery-only releases. Knock back a pint or four while enjoying some bocce or horseshoes on their back deck. And while you’re there, don’t forget to pick up some cool COOP swag like a beanie, t-shirt or beer glass. That way everyone who sees you will know you have great taste in beer.
