Partner Spotlight: Pets for Vets

“Bringing together man’s best friends and our returning soldiers; showing them both that we have not forgotten.”

Pets for Vets is a non-profit organization that pairs veterans with a sweet, furry companion. Dogs and cats are known to have compassionate souls, always knowing when someone needs extra love and attention. Having a pet by your side is known to lower stress levels and put you at ease. Companion animals can improve mental and physical health, including reducing stress, depression and anxiety, which are symptoms experienced by many serving in the military. According to Pets for Vets: “Veterans with PTSD or TBI who are not eligible for a service dog can benefit from a Pets forVets companion animal."

Pets for Vets takes compassion to another level by pairing up veterans with shelter dogs that may be facing euthanasia. Professional trainers use positive reinforcement to train the animals to recognize panic or anxiety disorder behaviors. Each pet that is paired up with a veteran is healthy, up to date on shots, and is taught good manners to fit into the veteran’s lifestyle.

Beer Paws is honored to have Pets for Vets as our Charity partner for the month of June. We believe that what they are accomplishing is nothing short of wonderful and we are donating 10% of our sales in June to this organization.

Join us on Saturday, June 2nd (8:30 AM – 1:30 PM) for the 3rd Annual “Tops Down, Tails Up” benefiting Pets for Vets-Kansas City at Crossfit Cerberus in Blue Springs. Cruise around Lee’s Summit and Blue Springs with your four-legged family members prior to arriving at Crossfit Cerberus. The cruise will be police escorted and Minsky’s Pizza will be served for lunch. An auction and raffle will be provided to the cruisers and you can bring along a cooler with non-alcoholic drinks for your ride.
